Local developer Charlie Wooley of the St. Charles Town Co. along with Starwood is proposing a 164-room boutique hotel in the heart of lower Highlands. The hotel (to be named later this year) will open in May of 2018 right down the street from Lola’s and Little Man Ice Cream. What a coup for the neighborhood! It just keeps getting better and better. They are using the words “upper upscale” – — does that mean a Hotel Teatro or JW Marriott like hotel? No, I think it will be the hippest destination in all of Denver, no doubt.
They are talking about a strong food and beverage component and a pool deck with views of downtown. Sounds like Sunset Blvd’s Chateau Marmont – ok, Charlie, promise me it will be the sexy, hip night spot where one slips into a glamorous summer evening dress and meets friends for martini’s on the roof deck…. Denver is ripe for this kind of excitement. I am truly excited!
Noteworthy is Denver’s Semple Brown Design – the design team. The hotel will be located at 16th and Boulder…..just a two block walk from Jan’s Malibu Beach House next to Linger Restaurant and under a mile away from Jan and Molly’s office!
“Denver and our new hotel will be a must-visit destination for travelers looking to bask in the city’s arts and culture, culinary and music scenes set against a majestic mountain backdrop,” said Charlie Wooley. This arm of Starwood Hotels, Tribute Portfolio, opened other “indie” boutique hotels in London (Great Northern Hotel), South Beach (Royal Palm), Japan (The Kiroro Resort) Las Vegas (SLS), Palm Springs (The Riviera).
